Today, these functions are closely related to sustainable development and renewable energies.
If transport and packaging are often taken care of by subcontracting companies, the logistician plays an important role within an organization: choosing the best means of transport, calculating costs and their repercussions and managing stock. They have to oversee outbound and inbound flows to the factory and implement a competition and quality intelligence system.
More and more companies are putting in place logistics platforms in strategic locations worldwide in an attempt to optimize logistics costs.
Logistics Manager |
Logistics managers are in charge of optimizing the product flow and shipment from the place of production to where the exported or imported goods are stored. They coordinate the various activities within the logistics chain and work in close collavoration with the sales force (buyers or vendors), Educated to graduate level in international business with a management or finance concentration, logistics managers should also have taken a specialization in supply chain management or logistics (Master). Logistis managers must be good linguists, rigorous, autonomous and fast decision-makers. They should also have excellent negotiation skills and a sound knowledge of ERP or CRM systems and office processing programs, particularly Excel. |
Forwarding Agent |
This is a company's transport manager. The role consists of assessing the best method for shipping goods, advising the manufacturer or vendor on which packaging to use, and organizing and managing the transport of goods to ensure they arrive at the destination in the best possible conditions. Their objective is to optimize costs while maintaining quality and contributing to protecting the company's image (deadlines, damage, sustainable development, environmental concerns…). Educated to graduate level in international business, the agent should have followed a concentration in supply chain management or logistics (Master). This is an entry-level position, but it is preferable to have completed one or two internships in the transport industry. They must be rigorous, thoughtful, have good negotiating skills and know how to adapt to the needs of customers irrespective of their culture. They are also autonomous and proactive. They speak English. |
