Field Managers generally deal with administrative questions.
However, they also work with financial management and planning budgets, pay suppliers and employees and search new sources of financing.
They are responsible for obtaining authorizations and passes from the authorities…or from warring parties. This means that they must negotiate with locals and, therefore, must have an extensive cultural understanding of the places where they work.
They also manage expatriates and hiring needs, pay customs duties for imported goods, oversee contracts and manage equipment stocks to ensure proper operations.
Without these essential steps, a humanitarian mission would be completely paralyzed.
Their superior is the Head of Mission.
